It's My Birthday!

That's right, it's my birthday. While I won't state how young I am turning this year, I would love to celebrate by offering a discount code in my etsy shop on ready to ship items. Any order made using the discount code with custom items will be refunded. If you'd like to order ready to ship and custom items, please make two separate orders. Use discount code BIRTHDAY2015 to receive 20% off of your order of $15 or more. Code is valid today only. Local customers can only either use the 20% off code or the LOCAL code for free shipping as etsy does not allow stack coupon codes. Sorry for this inconvenience.

If any of you are wondering what I'm doing myself to celebrate, I don't have any plans other than spending time with my family. I think this upcoming weekend, we may go to Lagoon (the local amusement park) and have a fun time.

It is also now time to get your orders in for Christmas dresses for your little princess. I will only be accepting orders until October 20th for these. I have a facebook post that has some previous Christmas dresses I have made in the comments, so take a look. If none of those styles is what you are looking for, feel free to find a picture of something you like and send it to me. I'll let you know if it's something that I can do. If you don't have a style in mind, I absolutely love working with a customer to choose the perfect pattern and fabric. If you are okay with surprises, just give me the size your little princess needs and if you want fun Christmas or classic Christmas and I can whip up a beautiful dress for either that I'm sure you will love. Contact me through my facebook page, etsy conversation to order.

One more thing, etsy now has the option for me to include paypal payments directly in the direct checkout option they provide. I can also keep paypal payments as a separate option if I choose. If I do this, it will not be direct checkout, only as the separate option. Which would you prefer? I know when I have shopped at other vendors on etsy that have the direct checkout option, it automatically chooses that option and I have to change it to paypal if I want to pay with paypal. Sometimes I forget to change it and that frustrates me. So, I can see the benefit of having paypal as a choice in the direct checkout option. Please voice your opinion on this, either here on the blog or on facebook. Thanks!

It's hot, hot, hot, but it's time to start thinking about when it's not.

It's amazing how fast the summer goes. Now that the 4th of July is past, it is time to start thinking about fall and winter clothes. This time of year is always so hard for me to switch gears. It's still so hot that I want to keep sewing all the great summer clothes, but I know it's time to switch so that those who are starting back to school shopping can get the items they need.

I need your wonderful feedback in the comments to tell me what you are looking for in clothes for your princess for fall and winter. Here's some of the styles I was thinking of making for this fall (not necessarily in these fabrics):

Pepper Dress

 Sleepy Jeans and Izzy Tops

Betsy Dresses

Calla Lily Skort - Perfect for playing on the playground.

Sophie Tunic

Cricket Tunic or Dress - Has an adorable keyhole with a button/loop closure in back.

Hattie Dress or Tunic

There might be a few other styles that I'll add, but is there any of these styles you love or hate? Betsy will for sure be in the line-up as it's one of my favorites.

Tandy Tunic

I just added a run of adorable Tandy Tunics to my etsy shop. They are available in sizes 2T-6. I can do custom sizes up to a 10, as well. These tunics are made from a soft cotton/lycra blend knit fabric. It has an adorable cross over yoke and an easy fit skirt portion below the yoke. It has cute gathers in the front and back. The short sleeves make it perfect for summer. Go grab one for your little princess before they are gone. I only have one of each size ready to ship: https://www.etsy.com/your/shops/Bugned/tools/listings/235007693

Introducing the Jill Tunic

I love when the weather starts to get warmer more consistently. It means that warmer weather clothes can come out of hiding and that I get to make more cute things for to be worn in all the sunshine. Today, I'm introducing the Jill Tunic to the line of items I make.

If ordered as a custom, I can leave the back of the skirt portion open if you like open back tops. For those that prefer a bit more modesty, I have it closed. It is available in sizes 6-12 months to 5T for custom orders. The ones I am listing today on my esty shop are all closed back and ready to ship. I have them ready in sizes 18 months, 2T, 3T, and 4T. You can purchase them here: Jill Tunic Listing

In the back you can tie it into a small bow or just a knot. It is a knot style top and you can tie it the traditional single knot style or into a small bow like I have on the one on my daughter or you can tie each side into a bow style. The small bow knots are a little tricky, but there are lots of tutorials and you tube videos out there showing how to do it. Pair it with cute ruffle pants or capris and you have an adorable outfit. It would also look great worn with leggings.

Paisley Peplum Top

I just tried out a new pattern from a new designer to make my twins cute peplum tops for this upcoming spring and summer. It's made from knit fabric and has a cute cutout in back. For those that don't like cutout backs, I'm pretty certain I could modify it to have a contrasting fabric filling the cutout spot in the back. I made it as a peplum top, but this pattern also has dress length if you wanted that instead. My twins just love it.

Do you notice the upside down horses in the skirt part in the back? Well, that's because I forgot I needed to have multiple pieces for the skirt when using a directional fabric and a circle skirt. Oops! It's a good thing my daughter doesn't mind at all.

So, is this something you'd like to have available for me to make for you? Let me know by commenting here or on my facebook page.

Behind the Scenes

Just wanted to share a little behind the scenes photo of what happens when I'm using a new pattern or new sizes to a previously used pattern.

Before I can even choose what fabric combo to use, I first have to put together a pattern if it's a new to use PDF, or at the very least trace the new sizes I want to use from a previously made pattern. This particular pattern I've used to make my twins dresses before, but have not used any other sizes. This morning was spent tracing sizes newborn to 3T. Now I get to cut out all those traced pieces before I can cute out fabric.

When I made these ones for my twins, I added some extra length, so they were a bit big then, but fit great now. These pictures were when I had finished them last year. I just love the classic look of a regular waist and a cute Peter pan collar.

Cute Baby Bonnets

Today, I've been working on some adorable baby bonnets. I have my first boutique of the year coming upon March 21st and I will have the bonnets there with me. This style of bonnet has cute piping detail and can be worn with either print on the outside. It can also be worn with the brim flipped back to show both prints a once.

I am more than willing to take custom orders for these adorable bonnets. The one shown is a tiny little newborn one, but I can make them in other sizes, as well.
